Bonnie Bowman

Bonnie is a certified instructor and barn manager through the British Horse Society. She studied for two years with the British Horse Society in Milbrook, New York and an additional two years at the Yorkshire Riding Centre in England.  She returned with the experience of being a working student under 2 Olympians, with experience at international competitions and certifications in riding, barn management and teaching.  

Upon returning to the United States, Bonnie spent four years in Florida competing on the HITS showjumping circuit in Wellington, Ocala and Jacksonville.  She then moved to pursue a formal education, enrolling at Oklahoma State University and graduating with her BA in Finance.  

A few years after graduation and starting a family, Bonnie relocated to Virginia.  She continued her competitive riding career showing jumpers and eventing in Area II.  Bonnie also served as the top trainer for the Cape Henry Pony Club.

 Now, as a professional in the industry for over 20 years, Bonnie works out of her home base at Blue Pond Farm in Virginia Beach, VA.  She has taken students and their horses through levels of competition up to and including the National level. Her approach to teaching is to study how an individual learns, then combine that with her knowledge of how the horse learns,  to create a confident and successful team. As a rider, Bonnie works to develop the horse in the direction which they are most naturally suited for.  She strongly believes in the fundamentals based in equitation, contact and consistency.  

Bonnie enjoys time with her husband, Chris, 3 children (Caroline, Liam, and Byron), their Mini Australian Shepard (Ody).  They are her greatest support, and she is excited to share her love for horses with her daughter, Caroline.
